To say the night was electric would've been an understatement. It was a cool evening as dark and ferocious looking sack like clouds loomed over our townhouse. We had just finished dinner and I saw a stunning flash of lightning fill the sky out of the corner of my eye. I was super excited and hastily called for Jenny. I LOVE great lightning storms!!! I immediately ran and grabbed my tripod/camera (and Jenny too) and we rushed out to the front porch to watch the free fireworks. The lightning was fairly steady at first and frustration was setting in because my timing just seemed to be off. Every time I was in between shots, the "good lighting" would strike and I said to Jenny "isn't that always the way." I took a brief pause and started shooting again, and take note that I'm certainly no professional lightning photographer. And BAM!!! there it was, in all it's glory...I like to refer to it as the "Grand Poobah" of the evening. It was a real beauty, and I was ecstatic to see it illuminate my LCD. Although I'm extremely proud of the image below, I readily admit that it was purely a lucky shot. A short time after this storm another one rolled in and struck our townhouse and killed my IMAC (RIP), but that's another story.
