Twelve Days Til Bebes

So YES this is another update, and YES you have read that correctly...we have to wait another 12 days for the girls to arrive. Say what?? Unlike the twelve days of Christmas there will be no festive blessings, just a whole lot of waiting.
The phone rang on March 30th shortly after four and Jenny answered it only to find our Dr's secretary on the other end. Jenny thought she was just confirming our C-section appointment for the 31st @ 11:30 or perhaps just reminding Jenny of the important items to bring. Then the first bomb landed...when she said the Dr. is on the line and would like to speak with you. Jenny's heart sunk a little thinking this can't be good. Then the Dr. spoke and the second bomb landed as he said "Hi Jenny, I have some bad news". That is probably the last phrase an expecting mother wants to hear and I could see the anxiety riddled across Jenny's face. Thankfully it was followed with the words "I can't do the C-section tomorrow, we have to reschedule it". WHEW! All I could say is "he better not be changing the date" lol I had my mind set on the 31st. But it is what it is. :)
Basically the run down is this... the midwives we originally had given Jenny a due date, however our first ultrasound didn't agree with that date so they pushed it back a bit over a week. The midwives had to transfer care to the Dr. because we are having multiples, and by then we'd had another ultrasound and the Dr. had obviously never seen the discrepancy with the dates on the first one. Thankfully he looked everything over the day prior to the surgery and caught this. He didn't want to deliver the babies pre-term (obviously) so he extended the surgery 12 more days.
We get that it's better for the girls to hang out in the bedwomb a bit longer and get bigger and stronger... however we wish this call hadn't been so last minute. We were all psyched up for the big day and neither of us are good waiters. This pregnancy has had so much uncertainty and this is just another small bump in the road.
Gavin was sad too as he was excited about meeting his sisters and having Deborah visit, and Grandma sleep over... but it will all happen soon enough.
Jenny is doing great other than her big swollen Shrek feet and narcoleptic tendencies. I'm sure by the time the day arrives she'll be more than happy to be done with this pregnancy.
Here is a pic of the main man and the girls' beautiful cribs.
P.S. this is NOT an April fools joke...however the funny thing is the Dr. originally wanted to deliver the girls on April fools day and we said NO!!!
Shane

The main man - a moment of sadness followed by watching some Madagascar 2...that fixed everything :)

We stenciled the girls names over their cribs but as you know they're private so I had to sensor them.
