CANADA DAY!!!

WOOHOO!!!! This is the part where I bellow out the national anthem with unbridled enthusiasm. O' canada, our home and native land... Ok nobody really wants to hear me sing... We certainly live in a great country and although I often feel I don't participate in as many acts of patriotism as our southern neighbors, I do have a quiet and reserved love for the best country in the WOLRD! That's right I said it... the WORLD! We all saw the 2010 Olympics and as they say, "the proof is in the pudding!". We're all blessed to live here and hopefully we take the time to recognize how good we have it, and help those around us who are less fortunate.
We spent Canada day with a few friends at the Fonthill parade. Thank you to Lisa "the superstar" Lanigan for opening up her front lawn and letting a couple of hooligans hang out there (ok perhaps just one "Eric"). We also enjoyed the company of one of Gavin's favorite people namely Gramma, as well as Deborah the superstar Beattie, the Chubb Edwards gang, and the Oh so witty Wittes. Now it isn't exactly the best parade this side of Texas, however it's still a good time. Maybe next year they don't need to seek out every fire truck in the Niagara region in a desperate attempt to extend the parade by their sheer length. It was fantastic seeing the kids enthusiasm, however my favorite part of the parade was the kid in one of those head to toe colored spandex suits. I'm sure you've all seen one by now, right?? Anywho, the thing that made it ridiculously hilarious is that the poor tall lanky wonder boy was so malnourishly (probably not a real word) skinny that the spandex suit was baggy on him. In all my life I've never seen someone too skinny for spandex... AWESOME!! We then continued the fun with a BBQ, the best cake EVER (thank you Jenny!), and a bonfire... really, what better way is there to finish off a day??
Here are a few images from the parade.
Shane

Waiting for the action to begin!

A little risky business anyone?

The girls doing what they do... what exactly do they do?

Addison excitedly anticipating her first parade.

Gavin Ethan & Norah

I laughed as Ethan and Norah both plugged their ears when the fleet of fire trucks passed...

Gavin being goofy...

Apparently parades have highs and lows...

Jenny's two tier chocolate cake with butter cream icing and a strawberry maple leaf... nice work baby!

Wave that flag people... Happy belated Canada Day from the Reeds!
